The SunTrust Foundation recently granted $2,500 to the Durham Technical Community College Foundation to support financial literacy programs on campus.
The grant will support the College’s efforts to improve and expand financial literacy initiatives to students. In September 2017, Durham Tech launched Money Matters, a financial literacy workshop open to all students to increase their knowledge, skills, and abilities to manage their personal finances, pay for college and living expenses, and plan for their financial futures. This grant is an important enhancement to the short-term financial aid, food assistance, and support services offered on campus.
The SunTrust Foundation, SunTrust Bank’s philanthropic organization, is committed to helping people start their journeys towards being financially confident. The Foundation works to advance financial well-being in all of its efforts. Those efforts include financial education and counseling; career readiness/workforce development training and entrepreneurship; thought leadership and new relationships; and support for the unique needs of the communities it serves.
“Students will benefit from having short-term emergency services in addition to long-term education and financial planning with this gift. We’re so thankful for SunTrust’s continued support and commitment to our students and their families,” said Melissa Chappell, Executive Director of the Durham Tech Foundation.
The Durham Tech Foundation is a charitable organization that promotes the current and long-term success of Durham Tech by inspiring charitable investment in its students, faculty, and staff.
