Drop In, Light Up: Explore the New Lightboard Studio (Open House)
Instructional Technologies is excited to invite you to an open house showcasing Durham Tech’s brand new Lightboard Studio on Wednesday, September 18 from 2:00-3:00 PM. What is a lightboard? A lightboard is a transparent glass writing surface. Think of it as a glowing, see-through whiteboard. You’ll stand (or sit, if you prefer) behind the glass and write with fluorescent markers, while a video camera on the other side records your lecture. The result? Students can see your face as you explain

Ready for NaNoWriMo?
November is known for Thanksgiving and the beginning of the holiday shopping season, but for writers it's known for something else. November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), when people put their fingers to their keyboards and pound out 50,000 words in one month. That's about 1,667 words a day. You can do it, we believe in you! There are as many ways to write a novel as there are writers, but for those who would like to plot their novel before writing we've collected some resources
Welcome Back!
Welcome back, Durham Tech! As we begin the Fall 2017 semester, a few friendly library reminders: Your student ID is your pass into the library. Current students need to have a up-to-date student ID. There will be a grace period the first week of classes, but after that, each student only gets 2 passes a semester (alternate photo ID required). Get or update your student ID at the Security Desk on any Durham Tech Campus --it should say Fall 2017. Textbooks are available for in-library use. Behind
Out Loud in the Library: Student Life with Gilbert Umberger
Our latest podcast episode is out! Listen for library updates, a great interview with Gilbert Umberger (AKA G-Krispy), and book talk! You can listen to the podcast here or on your favorite podcatcher. A heartfelt goodbye to Jes Dormady, who is mentioned in this episode, and has left the college since the recording. She's gone on to new opportunities and we wish her the absolute best! Gilbert is reading Becoming a Student Ready College (available as a print book and an ebook from the Durham Tech
Finishing Up National Library Week: Your Library Staff
So technically Tuesday was National Library Workers' Day, but it was also a high pollen count day, so there's been a bit of a delay in posting (apologies). We may be biased (acknowledging bias is an important part of information literacy, you know), but we have a great group of library employees. Your Durham Tech Library staff participate in councils, committees, mentoring, programming, advising, campus planning, and many other parts of the Durham Tech community. We recognize that the way to
Yellow Books for the Annual Pollening
It's that time of year again. You know what I mean. https://youtu.be/WzusALvGH7U Since we can't avoid it (unless we never leave the house) or control it, we may as well accept it and cope as best we can with itchy eyes, stuffy noses, and a dream of the few perfect days before the humidity settles in our bones. Here are some blonde books to read outside (after taking your allergy meds) to soak up the spring weather with canary covers to hide the pollen. Click on the link in the caption to access

Subsequent black and white pages are 5 cents each, and all color copies are 25 cents each. The lab is available to
