Recommended Professional Reading for Faculty and Staff
The Library has added many new materials for faculty and staff on equity, pedagogy, student engagement, online teaching and learning, student services, and more! The Library also subscribes to the journal New Directions for Community Colleges in print and with online access (log in using your Durham Tech username and password). This journals offers practical recommendations on current trends in the field of community college education and includes contributions from leaders and researchers
In Memoriam: Rachel Smith, Northern Durham Center Librarian
The Durham Tech Library staff is heartbroken to announce the death of Rachel Smith, our Northern Durham Center Librarian and off-site library liaison. We are shocked and devastated, and in addition to feeling Rachel's loss at our college, we are incredibly sad for her family’s loss. Rachel joined our Durham Tech Library team in January 2020. Ten weeks later, we were all off-campus and trying to adapt to new, uncharted circumstances. To help support our campus community during the transition

Dr. Maya Angelou, one of the most celebrated and admired poets, novelists, and civil-rights activists in the United States, died last month at her home in Winston Salem. The library has many of Maya Angelou's works including her novels, poetry collections, autobiographies, essays, and cookbook. Check the online catalog for titles. Click read more to check out some awesome reads by and about Asian and Pacific Islander Americans from our in-person collection and from our Dogwood Digital Collection of ebooks and audiobooks. New edition of the MLA Handbook
This spring the Modern Language Association of America (MLA) replaced its seventh edition handbook with a new eighth edition. The new edition includes significant changes that focus more on the process of writing and documenting sources.
