Five Durham Tech students are headed to North Carolina State University on full scholarships as part of this year’s prestigious Goodnight Scholars transfer class.
Katie Jordan, Caitlyn Frazier, Jesse Parmelee, Jorge Rivera-Lopez, and Susan Edelstein were notified last month that they were among the 51 Goodnight Scholars in the transfer class of 2025.
Acceptance into the Goodnight Scholars Program includes a scholarship of $22,000 per academic year, renewable for up to three years. Recipients were selected from 30 counties across North Carolina and participated in a rigorous selection process, including an extensive application and interview.
In recent years, Durham Tech has been a consistent home for Goodnight Scholars. Six graduates from 2017-21 were selected for the program. In 2022, the transfer class was expanded from 25 to 51, which provided even more Durham Tech recipients.

Students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate science degree at NCSU's Leadership in the Public Sector program would complete the Public Safety Administration Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree.

Loaner AND Keeper Chromebooks (and Calculators and Portable Monitors): Digital Champion Grant Update
In December 2025, the Durham Tech Library began distributing "keeper" Chromebooks to qualifying students as the final part of our NC DIT Digital Champion Grant. Our first sixteen students who have picked up their keeper Chromebook (and the others who have qualified) expressed interest in the program on their intake or renewal form, demonstrated need by borrowing a loaner laptop for two terms or more, and met progression goals according to their program. March 8 is International Women's Day and was created to focus on the achievements of women across the globe and emphasize the continued need to push for gender parity. This year's theme is "Choose to Challenge," acknowledging that gender bias left unchallenged allows it to continue.
