The end of 2019 is approaching so now is the time to look at what we've read and watched this year and determine the best of the best. We've chosen some of our favorite books and movies from our collection that we read or watched this year to highlight in a display inside the library. The library discovered a neat new tool called the North Carolina Literary Map, which is a free resource produced by the University Libraries at UNC Greensboro in collaboration with the North Carolina Center for the Book. The NC Literary Map identifies North Carolina places associated with more than 3000 writers and more than 4700 of their books with an interactive online tool that is designed to foster interest in the state’s rich literary tradition. There is still time to check out one (or two or three or four!) of these new books to read over Thanksgiving Break. Books are a great conversation started at dinner and a great way to get some peace amidst the hectic Thanksgiving hubbub. We have SO MANY great new books that I can't include all of them. Some of the books not pictured are written by or about such notable people as Jackie Chan, Stan Lee, Harvey Milk, Malcolm Gladwell, Lois Lowry, Dapper Dan, and Edward Snowden. So come grab a book!

You may be familiar with Films on Demand, a streaming video platform with thousands of educational videos. In January of 2015 we announced this new service for the Durham Tech community. On March 7 Films on Demand added over 100 new films to Durham Tech's collection.
