Fall classes start on Monday, August 16, which means next week is Fall Semester Preparation Week! The Library (and the College with the exception of the Bookstore) will be closed to students on Monday, August 9 for professional development. New books at OCC just in time for summer session! Our Library summer hours start Monday, May 15 (though Librarian hours start at OCC the week of May 15). The Main Campus Library will be open Monday and Tuesday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Wednesday and Thursday 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The Orange County Campus Library will be open for general use Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM; the Librarian will be available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Life can be unorganized, and with all the digital options out there, choosing productivity and other helpful "life" apps can almost be an additional burden. In order to help narrow down a huge playing field, the library asked Durham Tech faculty and staff what their favorite productivity apps are for managing their time and life. Dr. Katherine Johnson, part of the human computer team at NASA and responsible for hand calculating NASA's path to space, has died at 101. She graduated from West Virginia State College with degrees in math and French and briefly worked as a teacher before working for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (which would later become NASA) at Langley Research Center.
