MacArthur Fellows, Class of 2021: A Durham Tech Alum & More!
On September 28, the MacArthur Foundation announced the recipients of the 2021 Fellowship Grant (sometimes referred to as the “Genius” grant) and a Durham Tech alum is among the 25 individuals "who have shown extraordinary originality and dedication in their creative pursuits and a marked capacity for self-direction." https://youtu.be/h0soupdEngo Awardees receive an unrestricted $625,000 to further their pursuits. News: Liliana Bolanos Arbaca: Making the technical look easy
This July, recent Durham Tech graduate Liliana “Lili” Bolanos Arbaca participated in the University of North Carolina EDGE Genomic symposium. EDGE, or Educational Pathways to Increase Diversity in Genomics, is a two-year summer program providing training in research skills, career opportunities and mentoring to undergraduate students, specifically first-year students and sophomore from underrepresented and disadvantaged, who are interested in genomics careers.

Policies and Procedures Manual: The college has established and follows internal procedures for enabling faculty and staff to make such reports with protection from retaliation, harassment, or adverse employment consequences as a result of a report made following this procedure.
Childcare Assistance Grant
Eligible student parents earning their degree, diploma, or certificate can receive a grant for some of their child care expenses.

Join us for an Open House where prospective students and community members can learn about Durham Tech’s Guided Career Pathways, student support services, and a variety of student engagement and career opportunities. The event is open to the public and all are welcome.
Paid Parental Leave
Policies and Procedures Manual: In order to assist and support employees in balancing work and family obligations, the College will provide eight weeks of Paid Parental Leave to eligible employees.
Building Safety Captains
Most buildings at Durham Tech are currently assigned a Building Safety Captain. These individuals are your colleagues who are trained to ensure the safety of their assigned buildings’ occupants. Building Safety Captains are trained to effectively assess situations and provide safety instruction and assistance to employees, students, and visitors.
