Banned Books Week Sept. 22-29, 2019
Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and open access to information for all. The books featured during Banned Books Week have all been targeted for removal or censorship in libraries and schools. The American Library Association's Office for Intellectual Freedom compiles lists of challenged books in order to bring awareness of censorship that affect libraries and schools. More With NC LIVE: Natural Medicines
Did you know that NC LIVE has more databases than the ones on our database page? It's true! And, as a member of the Durham Tech community you have access to all of it. (You may also access NC LIVE through your local public library.) This post is going to look at the Natural Medicines database. First you need to know how to get to the database. You can get to NCLIVE by going directly to nclive.org or clicking the NCLIVE Home Page link on the library databases page. From there you can browse the
Crafternoon: Tie Dye Kits!

The Student Government Association and the Library are giving out tie dye kits to current students, which include three colors (blues, yellows, and reds), gloves, and some rubber bands. You'll provide your own shirt, bag, pants, scarf, hat, whatever you want to dye (in cotton, polyester, or blended fabric). If you would like one, email us at library@durhamtech.edu and we'll schedule a time for you to pick it up. You can also drop by the

For people who read 900 page books, a 500 pager is going to be a brief adventure, right? We're willing to be flexible with the definition of "short," but in general if you want some guidelines, aim for 250 pages or fewer or about 6 hours or shorter for an audiobook. But wait! What if the audiobook of a short book is longer than 6 hours? Does that count

What We're Reading-Kindred
This book was read by Courtney Bippley who is a Reference Librarian at the Main Campus Library. Why did you choose to read this book? A friend recommended this book to me and I trust her judgement. Also, I’d been meaning to read a book by this author for a while. She's well known for being an award winning, female, African American scifi/fantasy writer. I'm sorry I didn't read one of her books before she died in 2006. What did you like about it? I liked the realism of the time travel. Not in the
