May is Mental Health Awareness Month. With an on-going pandemic, global conflict, and then the rigors of everyday life, the past few years have been a lot. Be Well at Durham Tech provides students with a 24/7, 365 free mental health support line with licensed counselors as well as free telehealth or off campus face-to-face counseling sessions. Start 2021 and the Read Great Things 2021 Challenge off right and mark your short book off the list. What counts as a short book? Good question. For people who read 900 page books, a 500 pager is going to be a brief adventure, right? We're willing to be flexible with the definition of "short," but in general if you want some guidelines, aim for 250 pages or fewer or about 6 hours or shorter for an audiobook. But wait! Loaner AND Keeper Chromebooks (and Calculators and Portable Monitors): Digital Champion Grant Update
In December 2025, the Durham Tech Library began distributing "keeper" Chromebooks to qualifying students as the final part of our NC DIT Digital Champion Grant. Our first sixteen students who have picked up their keeper Chromebook (and the others who have qualified) expressed interest in the program on their intake or renewal form, demonstrated need by borrowing a loaner laptop for two terms or more, and met progression goals according to their program. New books at OCC just in time for summer session! Our Library summer hours start Monday, May 15 (though Librarian hours start at OCC the week of May 15). The Main Campus Library will be open Monday and Tuesday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Wednesday and Thursday 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The Orange County Campus Library will be open for general use Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM; the Librarian will be available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
