News: 60 for 60: RSVP at Durham Tech provided senior residents tax services, volunteer opportunities
In 1976, Durham Technical Institute and ACTION, a federal agency, partnered to launch the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) at Durham Tech. Prior to offering this service at the College, the Volunteer Center of Greater Durham hosted the program.  

RSVP provided senior residents, identified as those over the age of 55, with opportunities to volunteer in different capacities within the community.  

Durham Tech locally sponsored the program by matching personal interests and skills of volunteers with opportunities to serve.

Former Congressman David. E. Price received an honorary degree from Durham Tech at the College’s May 7, 2024, Commencement ceremony in recognition of his dedication to education and his longtime support for Durham Tech.
News: 60 for 60: At ‘Hill Day,’ Occupational Therapy Assistant students advocate for OTA issues in Washington, D.C.
Every September, the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) hosts Hill Day as an opportunity for thousands of Occupational Therapy students from across the country to travel to Washington, D.C., and voice their advocacy for occupational therapy.

Hill Day began in 1999, and about 10 years ago, Durham Tech’s Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) students began to participate.

All second-year students are welcome to attend Hill Day as a chance to complete their advocacy assignment required for OTA 245 Professional Skills III.
News: More than 300 Durham Tech students receive diplomas at 2023 spring Commencement 
Durham Technical Community College held Commencement Exercises on Wednesday, May 24, at the Durham Performing Arts Center, with 305 students graduating with degrees, diplomas or certificates in the 2022-23 school year.

The Dr. Phail Wynn, Jr. Collection is Growing
The world lost Dr. Phail Wynn Jr. in 2018 but his legacy in the Durham Tech Library is expanding regularly thanks to a generous donation from GlaxoSmithKline to establish the Dr. Phail Wynn, Jr. Library Endowment. Here are some newly acquired titles from the collection. All books relate to one of the seven themes of the collection. The themes are: ecology and the environment, cultural awareness, global citizenship, teaching tolerance, appreciating diversity, fighting poverty, and promoting world
El Club de Interpretación
El Club de Interpretación (Interpretation Club) provides further opportunities for students enrolled in Durham Tech’s Translation and Interpretation programs.
Campus Police and Public Safety
Campus Police and Public Safety provides 24-hour-a-day patrol protection for the College’s buildings, grounds, and parking lots.

Durham Technical Community College President Dr. Bill Ingram received the Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award during The Chamber for a Greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro 2020 annual meeting at The Carolina Club on Friday morning.
