February New DVDs
These are some of the new films we have for you to check out. Because sometimes reading is too much effort. [gallery type="rectangular" link="none" ids="2868,2869,2870,2871,2872,2873,2874,2875,2876" orderby="rand"]
Disability Pride Month
July is Disability Pride Month! We can celebrate by learning about the Disability Rights Movement, fighting ableism* wherever it is found, and lifting disabled voices. If you haven't heard of Disability Pride Month before you can read about the origin and meaning in this article. We can spend the last few days of the month (and beyond, don't let the calendar determine your intersectional education!) reading and learning about disabled experiences, disability advocacy, as well as enjoying stories
Take a book with you on vacation!
Here are some brand new books that you can check out from the library this week or next week. Our new book shelf is stocked with many new fiction and nonfiction titles for you to borrow. Please note that the library will be closed Aug. 3 - Aug. 9th. We'll open again on Aug. 10th. Happy summer reading!
Out Loud in the Library: The CAE with Del Williams
The library podcast is back! Our first episode of season 2 is an interview with LaDelta Williams, Director of the Center for Academic Excellence. Listen to learn what the CAE is doing this semester and how they can help you. Also included in this episode are some library updates and, of course, book talk. This season of Out Loud in the Library will have a couple of small changes. Episodes will drop every three weeks instead of every two weeks. And, Episodes will come out on Thursdays instead of
Verily and such...and Luke and Leia.
In the library, we like books and movies. Some of us also like cheesy internet promotions that combine Shakespeare and Star Wars. For a minute or two of fun, check out the Star Wars Sonnet Generator. Have at-eth it! (Now that you know-eth of these tomes, do you need-eth a copy? Ask or email the library about interlibrary loan, and we can get you a copy to check out. Forsooth!)
Library Hosts Citation Workshops in April
New and Free Books!
It's July! That means it is time for pie, unbearable heat, and a fresh crop of books to read! Bonus: we're giving away FREE BOOKS in the library right now. They are on a cart next to the entrance. We're adding new ones all the time so even if you stopped by before, come check again.
Books About Writing
Now that NaNoWriMo has started, here are a few books at the library that can help get the creative juices flowing. Here are tips, tricks, and advice from writers of both fiction and nonfiction. No matter what you are writing about you can find help here. Good luck! Out Loud in the Library: Episode 3
This week in Out Loud in the Library I spoke with Charmaine Grafton, President of the Student Government Association. For all those who have met her, you already know she is a delightful and authentic person. It was a pleasure to get to speak to her and learn about what the SGA is up to this year. They are adapting to the online environment admirably. But, I don't need to tell you that. You can listen for yourself!
New books about Immigration
Are you participating in the library's Read Great Things Challenge 2019? Do you need suggestions for books about immigration? Here are some recent books, both nonfiction and fiction, that explore immigration and the immigrant and refugee experience. These are now available in the library collection.
