Indigenous People's Day
In 2017, the state of North Carolina proclaimed the second Monday in October as Indigenous People's Day. What is Indigenous People's Day? An alternative to Columbus Day, Indigenous People's Day is "a celebration ... to bring acknowledgment to the Native population" and remove the focus from Columbus, a man who caused harm to Native populations. Want to learn more about Indigenous people's history and culture? Here's a very small selection of the books available through the Durham Tech library

What We're Reading-January
This book was read by Courtney Bippley, a Reference Librarian at the Main Campus Library Everyone knows Bone Gap is full of gaps—gaps to trip you up, gaps to slide through so you can disappear forever. So when young, beautiful Roza went missing, the people of Bone Gap weren’t surprised. After all, it wasn’t the first time that someone had slipped away and left Finn and Sean O’Sullivan on their own. Just a few years before, their mother had high-tailed it to Oregon for a brand new guy, a brand

It names titles and authors that have made their mark on African American culture, as well as simply nodding to some bestsellers and other well known works. Luke Cage is a well-read man, as are the villains in the show. It
