What Canvas Tools Are You Using?
Canvas offers plenty of built-in tools to help you teach, communicate, and stay organized, and everyone seems to use them in their own way. Maybe you’re setting up Modules to guide students through your course materials, using Rubrics to clarify expectations, or creating quick Quizzes for practice and feedback. No matter how you teach, there are lots of ways to make Canvas work for you and create an even better learning experience for you students. A few tools we see faculty using often include

Apps to Organize Your Life: What Durham Tech Faculty & Staff Love!
Life can be unorganized, and with all the digital options out there, choosing productivity and other helpful "life" apps can almost be an additional burden. In order to help narrow down a huge playing field, the library asked Durham Tech faculty and staff what their favorite productivity apps are for managing their time and life. Some almost across-the-board similarities were an ability to sync between devices and between platforms. Cloud-based storage and collaboration was also key. Calendar

Reminder: Durham Tech will be closed Monday, May 29 for Memorial Day. Have a nice long weekend and remember to incorporate some *real* self-care into your daily practices. The previous link is to an article and an episode of NPR's Code Switch that talks about self-care with psychiatrist Pooja Lakshmin, who just published a new book . Also in honor of AAPI Heritage Month and related via the NPR podcast/audio breadcrumb trail, check out the KPOP Dreaming podcast, about growing up Korean-American

We have recently added several new DVDs and books at Main Campus Library! Explore the library’s guide to LGBTQ resources for fiction, graphic novels, nonfiction, ebooks, DVDs, streaming video, and recommended websites. Last week Governor Roy Cooper proclaimed June as LGBTQ Pride Month in North Carolina. The month of June was chosen to commemorate the riots that
A Valuable Online Resource: Statistical Abstracts of the United States

Now, you can access the same information online via NC LIVE. Statistical Abstracts of the United States is presented as "the authoritative and comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political and economic conditions of the United States," according to ProQuest, who maintains the database. Celebrate (Quietly): Check out our fresh new furniture in the Main Campus Quiet Room!
Not all areas of the Main Campus Library are for quiet study ( check out our recent blog post for a list of some of the types of study areas available in our campus libraries), but when you need silence and as few distractions as possible, the Quiet Room is the place for you! The Main Campus Library had a revamp in the works and our furniture came in the Spring of 2020, just in time for ...no one to be on campus. :( Now our study rooms are open again, and students can take advantage of the
