The library recently added nearly twenty new contemporary art books to our collection thanks to the Art Resources Transfer program sponsored by The Distribution to Underserved Communities Library Program (D.U.C.). The D.U.C. distributes books on contemporary art and culture free of charge to rural and inner-city libraries, schools, prisons, and alternative education centers nationwide. Films On Demand is a streaming video platform that features high quality educational video content. The collection includes more than 20,000 films and is constantly growing! You may have heard of Dewey the cat from the book Dewey: The Small Town Library Cat Who Touched the World by Vicki Myron. This book chronicles Dewey's story of living in a public library in Spencer, Iowa. Other libraries around the world also have cats. Thanks to a grant that earmarked $3000 for library resources, the Durham Tech library expanded its collections of Middle East-related materials. The grant was funded by the Duke-UNC Consortium for Middle East Studie s. Made possible by Consortium’s Title VI funding, the grant, locally administered by Shannon Hahn, allowed the library to add over 100 new titles to its collections.
