Durham Tech has a lot of partners that help provide a wide range of services and access to information. One of those partners is UNC Chapel Hill’s North Carolina Digital Heritage Center ( http://www.digitalnc.org). The Center’s mission is support “community engagement and lifelong learning by promoting and increasing access to North Carolina’s cultural heritage.” This includes helping libraries like Durham Tech’s library digitize information, which increases access to the materials. The Library and Student Government Association are hosting craft workshops this spring semester. We made felted wool creations last week. All workshops are from 2:00-4:00 pm in the Library’s Group Study Area room 105A on the lower level. We hope you'll mark your calendars to join us for all of the events. If you've walked by the entrance to the library this week you may have seen our new dance themed window display. Books about dance or that feature dance, both non-fiction and fiction, academic texts to children's books. Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and open access to information for all. The books featured during Banned Books Week have all been targeted for removal or censorship in libraries and schools. The American Library Association's Office for Intellectual Freedom compiles lists of challenged books in order to bring awareness of censorship that affect libraries and schools. Get your read on with these new nonfiction titles at the Orange County Campus Library, most of which fit neatly into Read Great Things Challenge 2019 categories. Remember that your Durham Tech Library card is valid at all Durham Tech Library locations and you can request to pick up a book from another campus at your home campus (though you're always welcome to come visit).
