The world lost Dr. Phail Wynn Jr. in 2018 but his legacy in the Durham Tech Library is expanding regularly thanks to a generous donation from GlaxoSmithKline to establish the Dr. Phail Wynn, Jr. Library Endowment. Here are some newly acquired titles from the collection. All books relate to one of the seven themes of the collection. The themes are: ecology and the environment, cultural awareness, global citizenship, teaching tolerance, appreciating diversity, fighting poverty, and promoting world
The Durham Tech Academic Calendar at http://www.durhamtech.edu/html/prospective/calendar.htm tells us that fall break for students is almost here! During fall break, the Durham Tech ERC main campus library will operate on a reduced schedule, from 8:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday October 11 and Friday October 12, then closed on Saturday October 13. No classes are in session during this time, so the ERC library computer lab will be closed Thursday and Friday and no free printing will be available
National Library Week is April 10th-16th. This year's theme is "Libraries Transform." Harper Lee's highly anticipated second novel, Go Set a Watchman, will be released Tues. July 14. It has been suggested that Go Set a Watchman was written before Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning 1960 novel, To Kill A Mockingbird. Details have emerged that Lee's publisher, asked her to rewrite “Watchman” to focus on the perspective of Scout as a child.
