Click read more to check out some awesome reads by and about Asian and Pacific Islander Americans from our in-person collection and from our Dogwood Digital Collection of ebooks and audiobooks. Nonfiction and poetry on display at the Main Campus-- Other books by AAPI authors in our collections-- Dogwood Digital books can be downloaded and read through the Libby app, just like your local public library (though our holds list is likely much shorter).
It's been twenty years since September 11, 2001. The Northern Durham Center Library currently has a 9/11 Remembrance display. As with all our displays, all books are available for checkout. March 8 is International Women's Day and was created to focus on the achievements of women across the globe and emphasize the continued need to push for gender parity. This year's theme is "Choose to Challenge," acknowledging that gender bias left unchallenged allows it to continue. The Durham Tech Library staff is heartbroken to announce the death of Rachel Smith, our Northern Durham Center Librarian and off-site library liaison. We are shocked and devastated, and in addition to feeling Rachel's loss at our college, we are incredibly sad for her family’s loss. Rachel joined our Durham Tech Library team in January 2020. NC LIVE recently announced the addition of 495 titles to its HomeGrown e-books collection. The new titles come from five publishers, including The University of North Carolina Press. The HomeGrown collection has grown to include 3,600 e-books, which are hosted on the BiblioBoard platform. They are organized into "curations": fiction, nonfiction and young adult/juvenile titles.
