Borrowing a line fr om broadcaster Edward R. Murrow, we at the Durham Tech library wish librarian Bill Frazier all the best as he signs off—as this semester ends, he will be closing the chapter on his time at Durham Tech. This book was read by Meredith Lewis, the Orange County Campus (mostly) Librarian, and several Durham Tech faculty & staff over the summer. Two half-sisters, Effia and Esi, are born into different villages in eighteenth-century Ghana. Effia is married off to an Englishman and lives in comfort in the palatial rooms of Cape Coast Castle. Unbeknownst to Effia, her sister, Esi, is imprisoned beneath her in the castle’s dungeons, sold with thousands of others into the Gold Coast’s booming slave trade

Dance is wonderful. It is one of my favorite things in the world despite the fact that I'm only okay at it on a good day. Who cares? If I'm dancing I'm having a good time. Many of the dances known in the United States were created by the Black community. Blues dancing, Swing, the Twist, Disco, Lindy Hop, Charleston, Jitterbug, Moonwalk, Cakewalk, and so many more. Observed from October 31st to November 2nd, this holiday is often affiliated with Halloween in the United States. The main campus library of Durham Tech has a copy of the Durham-Orange Light Rail Project's Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS)--book and DVD--at the circulation desk and it is available for use within the library. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is accepting comments during a 45-day period, which ends on October 13, 2015. Durham Tech Library celebrated the Read Great Things Challenge 2018 with tea and cookies on Wed. Dec. 12 from 11:00-1:00. Participants talked about books they read this year, swapped books, and learned about the categories for next year's Read Great Things Challenge 2019. Participants also picked up their fun tote bags and reading mascot pins. It's not too late to pick up your prize if you completed the challenge!
