Six Durham Tech students attending N.C. State this fall have received Goodnight Scholarships, valued at $22,000 per year for up to three years for transfer students from low- and middle-income families in North Carolina who are studying in a STEM or STEM-education field.
John Burness, Chair of the Durham Technical Community College Board of Trustees, died on Monday, December 19, at the age of 77.

Durham Tech has partnered with NC A&T State University for the Aggie Commitment Trailblazer Scholars (ACTS) Program. The pathway will guarantee admission into an NC A&T STEM program for eligible students.

The ATI TEAS exam is designed to assess a student's aptitude for success in a nursing program. Students must achieve a minimum ATI TEAS score to be eligible for admission into a nursing program. Scores older than 3 years will not be accepted.
Two Durham Tech students were recently selected to be a part of the Uproar Festival of Public Art contest. Both Archer Fralix, a fine arts student, and Stu Beavers, in the welding program, started formal training in their art at the College, and while they may work in different mediums, they both have a passion for public art.
Skilled trades jobs are in high-demand, and Durham Tech offers short-term credentials to help students get to work fast. The Building and Skilled Trades program provides training for entry-level positions in building construction, ranging from cabinetry and plumbing to masonry and forklift training.

Nearly all of the 2,700 seats in the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) were filled Tuesday evening when friends, family, and Durham Tech faculty and staff gathered to celebrate the graduating class of 2019. More than 400 graduates participated in the ceremony, a record number for commencement ceremonies in the last decade, said Lisa Inman, Dean of Student Development and Support who has helped coordinate Commencement since 2011.
The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) is a broad-based law formulated in 1994 in response to the increasing violence against women in America. The Act has provisions starting from funding of domestic-violence programs to new civil rights remedies for women who were victims of gender-based attacks.
