News: Durham Tech Little Free Libraries thrive with Book Harvest partnership
With about 150 books being donated from Book Harvest every month, the Little Free Libraries at Durham Technical Community College are flourishing.
Little Free Libraries, a decade-long global movement, are stations where people can grab books for free and bring their unwanted books for others to enjoy. The Durham Tech Little Free Libraries were installed last year on Main Campus, Orange County Campus, and Northern Durham Center.
Community Health Worker (Continuing Education)
This course is designed to provide individuals with the required knowledge, tools, and resources to become recognized as a certified Community Health Worker (CHW) in North Carolina working in a variety of healthcare and community settings (Health Departments, Hospitals, Federally Qualified Health Centers, Clinics, Faith-based Organizations, etc.).
Employment of Relatives/Nepotism
Policies and Procedures Manual: Durham Technical Community College selects individuals for employment or promotion on the basis of training, experience, and other characteristics which best suit the individual to the job and best meet the needs of the institution. The College will not hire, promote, or transfer an individual to occupy a position that has influence over an immediate family member’s employment, promotion, salary administration, or other related management or personnel considerations.

Patrick Wynn watches closely as the LR Mate 200iD robotic arm picks up a plastic blue disc and moves it through the mock production line in the Mechatronics Lab at Durham Tech where students are learning the basic skills required to become an entry-level manufacturing production technician.
“The community college system is the technical arm of the job market,” said Walter Bartlett, instructor at Durham Tech and former president of Piedmont Community College. “About 80 percent of jobs out there are technical based and require an associate’s degree level knowledge so it’s prudent that we offer that.”
News: Durham Tech Board of Trustees welcomes new chair, vice chair, appointees
Durham Tech Community College’s Board of Trustees welcomed new board Chair Dr. Pat Ashley and new Vice Chair Gracie Johnson-Lopez to their new roles Tuesday, Aug. 19. The board unanimously elected them in June and their terms began July 1 and will run through June 2026.
Respiratory Therapy
The Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy degree engages students in additional study in administration, research, and critical care and prepares graduates to assume leadership positions in the field of respiratory care. There are two routes to a bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy.

Durham Tech is dedicated to providing opportunities for students, employees, college partners, and the public at large in initiatives for the growth and advancement of our communities.
Northern Durham Center
The Durham Tech Northern Durham Center (NDC) offers curriculum courses such as Basic Law Enforcement Training, Criminal Justice Technology, Emergency Management, and Fire Protection Technology. Continuing Education courses include Biotechnology, Fire Service Extension, and Law Enforcement Extension.
Institutional Review Board (IRB)
Policies and Procedures Manual: Durham Tech is committed to ensuring that all research involving human participants follows the ethical principles and requirements set forth in the federal Protection of Human Subjects policy (45 CFR 46), the Belmont Report, and the Nuremberg Code.
Esthetics Spa
Durham Tech employees and current students 18 years old and older can receive free facials, waxing, and specialty services through the Durham Tech Esthetics Spa.
