Rising ninth-grader Alivia Williams arrived at Duke’s Trent Semans Great Hall with her mom, Carla, to sign up for her field of study at a newly established Durham early college high school that will specialize in health care.

Opticianry Course Participation

Optical Apprentice Certificate
The Optical Apprentice certificate curriculum includes the competencies necessary to analyze and interpret prescriptions and to accurately fit and dispense eyewear and contact lenses.
Manicuring (Continuing Education)
The 300-hour course teaches the art of caring for the hands and feet. After successfully completing the course, the students will be able to sit for the North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Art's exam to be a licensed Manicurist.
