Summer Success Academy
The Summer Success Academy is a free two-week college transition program designed to help students successfully begin their journey at Durham Tech. This program provides early exposure to campus resources, academic expectations, and support services prior to the start of the Fall 2026 semester.
During the Academy, students will enroll in a free college course and earn college credit before the fall semester begins.
Students must apply and be officially admitted to Durham Tech for the Fall 2026 semester prior to the start of the Academy. Students must also attend the full program week. The Academy is free; however, participants must provide their own transportation.

Details
- Open to: Durham, Chapel Hill/Carrboro, Orange county residents who are graduating seniors, graduating high school seniors from neighboring counties, or high school equivalency graduates who will be entering college for the first time, who plan on attending Durham Tech starting Fall Semester 2025.
- Location: Durham Technical Community College, Main Campus, Building 10, Room 103. View map and directions
- Dates:
- July 13 – July 16, 2026, from 8:45 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. with a lunch break (lunch is provided)
- July 20 – July 23, 2026, from 8:45 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. with a lunch break (lunch is provided)
During Summer Success Academy, participants will:
- Be introduced to Guided Career Pathways
- Meet with Success Coaches for academic and career planning
- Connect with deans, faculty, instructors, and college administrators
- Receive support with the application and financial aid process prior to the start of the Summer Success Academy 2026
- Access wrap-around student support services
- Participate in free tutoring
- Receive free program materials and participation incentives
- Gain early experience with campus life
