Canvas Zen: 3 Easy Solutions for 3 Frustrating Problems

As we become more familiar with Canvas, we have received lots of great questions about using the LMS. In learning more about Canvas together, some common issues have emerged from faculty. These have the potential to cause frustration and some moments of panic. The good news is that each of these issues has an easy and quick fix. To help you avoid these panicky moments, please review the problems and solutions below.

HELP…I gave an extension to a student on a quiz (or assignment or discussion) and now all of the other students’ scores are gone!


HELP...I logged into Canvas and there are some courses missing from my Dashboard!


HELP…My advisee list on Canvas does not match my advisee list on Self-Service!

Once a week, on Sunday, an automated process adds any new advisees that have been assigned to you (and inactivates any that were unassigned).

If you need to give additional students access to your advising site, you can do that. On the People page, click the +People button. Type the advisee's email address (which can be found in Self-Service through the Advising tab) and click Next and then Add Users.
