Cosmetologists, hairdressers, and hairstylists give people a confidence boast through several beauty services, such as shampooing, cutting, coloring, styling hair, and massaging and treating the scalp. They may apply makeup, dress wigs, perform hair removal, and provide nail and skin care services. Electrologists and laser hair removal specialists are possible career options for those in this field.

Durham Tech is slated to offer its new Cosmetology program starting in Fall 2019. Through the program, participants will gain intensive training in the areas of hair styling, hair removal, and makeup application. Students will also work with actual clients in the College’s Cosmetology clinic. Cosmetology will be part of Continuing Education’s Cosmetic Arts department.
