Electricians help fuel the very elements that make our society operate. These individuals install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures such as street lights, intercom systems, and electrical control systems. They also connect wires to circuit breakers and transformers, inspect electrical systems, and plan the layout of the electrical wiring and fixtures.

The Electrical Systems Technology program at Durham Tech is designed for those interested in this career path. Students will learn about the fundamentals of alternating and direct current; residential, commercial, and industrial installation and maintenance; the National Electrical Code; AC and DC motors; transformers; electrical control circuit diagrams; programmable logic controllers; and process control instrumentation.
