Occupational Therapists assess, plan, and organize rehabilitative programs that help build or restore vocational, homemaking, and daily living skills, as well as general independence, to persons with disabilities or developmental delays. Use therapeutic techniques, adapt the individual's environment, teach skills, and modify specific tasks that present barriers to the individual.

Occupational Therapist positions require a master's or doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy. Pre-Professional programs are selected as a second program to accompany any primary major of the student’s choosing. A student who selects a pre-professional program should also select an accompanying baccalaureate major such as biology. Durham Tech students would complete the Associate in Science (AS) degree program in preparation for transfer. Students are not expected to complete all of these courses at Durham Tech.
