Setting the Macro Security Level for Access

Users who have never used Microsoft Access on their College computer or who have recently updated their version of Access may need to adjust their macro settings prior to using the Planning System. Adjusting the macro security setting in Access will not affect other Microsoft Office applications, but the setting will apply to other Access (.mdb) files.

After adjusting the macro security setting as described below, users should ensure that database files come from trusted sources and that their virus detection software is always activated and up to date.

To adjust the Macro Security Level for Microsoft Access:

  1. Open Microsoft Access on your computer.
  2. Click on Open Other Files.
  3. Click on Options.
  4. Click on Trust Center.
  5. Click on Trust Center Settings.
  6. Click on Macro Settings.
  7. Click on the Enable all macros radio button. Selecting this option will allow all macros to run.
  8. Click OK to complete the process and close the Macro Settings dialog box.
  9. You may now exit Access.
