News: Durham Tech’s Clinical Research Associate Program celebrates 25 years
Durham Tech’s 25th anniversary in April for the Clinical Trials Research Associate Program was a homecoming for those who launched the program as well as former students, and a celebration of current students and the program’s future.

The program trains individuals in assisting health care providers and researchers in initiating, administering, coordinating and managing clinical research studies for the development of new drugs, treatments and other health interventions.

News: Statement from Durham Tech President JB Buxton on the adoption of the 2025-26 budget by the Orange Board of County Commissioners
The Orange Board of County Commissioners approved its 2025-26 budget Tuesday, June 17, which reflects the commissioners’ strong support for public higher education. The budget provides full funding for operational increases, covers likely state salary increases, and maintains support for the Back to Work and Durham Tech Promise scholarships, programming at the Innovate Carolina Junction in Chapel Hill, and our efforts with apprenticeships and small businesses.
News: Durham Tech’s Small Business Center to hold Black business summit August 26
The Small Business Center at Durham Technical Community College will host the BLK BIZ SUMMIT on August 26 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Chesterfield location. The event is free and open to the public.

Small Business facilitator Chisa Pennix-Brown will host the summit. The one-day event will focus on developing and understanding effective marketing strategies, using online tools to build sustainable and profitable businesses, financial guidance and mentorship, and product development.

The Durham County commissioners approved its 2025-26 budget this week, demonstrating once again their commitment to public higher education in Durham. The budget continues their support for the College’s Back to Work short-term workforce development scholarships, BULLS Life Sciences program, Durham Tech Promise scholarships, and apprenticeship opportunities. Our commissioners also provided an overall budget increase to address rising operational costs as well as funding county salary increases in line with estimated state budget salary increases.
