Durham Technical Community College and Kate’s Korner Education Services are partnering to provide free part-time childcare services and after-school care on the College’s main campus this spring.

Drop-in services will be offered to 60 children beginning January 31 through June. The program focuses on access and affordability while delivering a high-quality project-based curriculum.

The drop-in services will allow children to attend the morning or afternoon program five days a week. This allows students who attend Durham Tech the opportunity to complete class requirements and study without the worry of care for their children.

Durham Technical Community College announced plans on Tuesday for a 124-unit affordable housing development on South Briggs Avenue near its Main Campus. The development is intended to serve both eligible students at Durham Tech and members of the broader Durham community.

During a news conference event in the Phail Wynn Jr. Student Services Center, Durham Tech President J.B. Buxton called the housing initiative “transformative” for Durham Tech students and Durham residents who need affordable housing options in the region.

Save Act Employee Training

News: Perry Endowment gives students opportunity to learn about lemurs
Readers may recall a previous feature about Cynthia Perry Garland, who established an endowment through a planned gift to support enrichment experiences for students in the Gateway to College and Adult High School/High School Equivalency programs.
Garland, a 1994 alumna of Durham Tech, credits the examples of her parents and brother as her inspiration to give back. When she was 5 years old, Garland watched as her mother went back to get her high school diploma. Garland’s father drove his wife to and from school every day and ensured Garland and her brother, Andrew, had their needs met. A champion of lifelong learning, Garland named the endowment The Perry Family Memorial Endowment for Student Enrichment.
Enrollment Due Date
If you submit all required paperwork by the enrollment due date, you can expect the following: be admitted to the college, have transcripts evaluated in time to meet with an advisor, and have the option to charge tuition and books to financial aid (if you are eligible for an award) at the beginning of general registration for new students.
