Building Safety Captains
Most buildings at Durham Tech are currently assigned a Building Safety Captain. These individuals are your colleagues who are trained to ensure the safety of their assigned buildings’ occupants. Building Safety Captains are trained to effectively assess situations and provide safety instruction and assistance to employees, students, and visitors.
Tobacco-Free Campus
Policies and Procedures Manual: Employees, students, visitors, and contractors are prohibited from using tobacco products at any time on college property as well as on any spaces where college-sponsored or college-related activities are held, including during non-instructional and non-service hours.
News: Gamma Beta Phi chapter at Durham Tech wins National Service Project
The Durham Tech chapter of the Gamma Beta Phi National Honor Society was notified last month that it was selected as the Category 2 winner for the Fall 2018 - Spring 2019 National Service Project.
Phage Hunters Lab
This discovery-based undergraduate research course is a unique and challenging experience for motivated Durham Tech students. The course is a national experiment sponsored by the Howard Hughes Medical Research Institute and space is limited to 18 students each year.
News: Durham Tech, NC State partner in dual-admission program
Durham Tech is one of eight community colleges in the region to join the pilot program for the NC State Community College Collaboration, or C3. The new Durham Tech program agreement was signed Thursday in Durham.
News: SunTrust Foundation grants Durham Tech $100,000 to honor legacy of Phail Wynn
SunTrust Foundation has granted $100,000 to the Durham Tech Foundation to establish the Phail Wynn SunTrust Foundation Scholarship.
Dr. Phail Wynn, Jr. served as president of Durham Tech for 27 years, making him the first African-American community college president in North Carolina. He was also a remarkable leader and mentor who was passionate about community. Wynn died of natural causes in July.

The next time you visit one of your classes in Canvas, you might notice there’s a new feature available to you. On the righthand side of your course Home page, you’ll see a new Check Accessibility button, and in your course menu, a new navigation link labeled Accessibility will appear. Both of these will take you to the new Course Accessibility Checker. What is the Course Accessibility Checker?
