The library discovered a neat new tool called the North Carolina Literary Map, which is a free resource produced by the University Libraries at UNC Greensboro in collaboration with the North Carolina Center for the Book. The NC Literary Map identifies North Carolina places associated with more than 3000 writers and more than 4700 of their books with an interactive online tool that is designed to foster interest in the state’s rich literary tradition. The Library is excited to host a student art exhibition featuring art works from Durham Tech's Drawing, Painting, 2-D and 3-D Design classes. The official opening and reception for students and their families is Saturday, April 16 from 11:00 - 1:00. Works will remain on display until May 6th. Researchers and history buffs alike may now search and access local history collections across North Carolina with a single search box thanks to a collaborative project led by the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center, NC LIVE, and the State Library of North Carolina. NC ECHO enables users to search across thousands of digitized historic materials, including a wide variety of books, photographs, maps, family histories, state documents, newspapers, and much more from cultural heritage
The Durham Tech Library accomplished a lot this year! We held 72 class instruction sessions in the library to teach 1221 students about information literacy, citations, and how to use our resources. Between the big windows and the stands on the lower level we put up 31 themed displays. Nine hundred and forty-seven new books and DVDs were added to our collection, and that doesn't even include donations from a variety of generous individuals. Check out our new books for June. Even thought these are primarily nonfiction, we have lots of popular and literary fiction for summer reading.
