Through NC LIVE the Durham Tech library offers Films on Demand, which is a collection of almost 30,000 award winning documentaries, interviews, instructional and vocational training videos, historical speeches and newsreels. This collection of video resources is updated regularly. September brought 164 new titles, many of which cover U.S. elections. Today, NASA announced that they've found proof of liquid saltwater on Mars. It's an announcement that makes one day finding living microbes on the surface more likely than ever before. With the movie adaptation of The Martian by Andy Weir coming out soon it seems like a good time check out what science has to say about the red planet, and through fiction discover what our preoccupation with the red planet says about us. 2016 brings a new crop of movies coming to a theater near you that are based on books. Below is a list of books you can check out from the Durham Tech Library to read before the movie comes out. We may be reaching the end of February and American Heart Month, but we can pump out a month-end blog post. (That pun was weak. I know. Let's not talk about it, okay?) This year's theme is "Live to the Beat," which aims to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease in Black adults ages 35 to 54 by taking small steps to address key risk factors such as hypertension, high blood pressure, and high blood sugar. Welcome to the Durham Tech Library blog! I have been a librarian at Durham Tech since October 1989. In the past year, we have made significant improvements to the library space. Some of these, such as a library classroom and better soundproofing, have been needed since the library opened in 1987.
