News: Westgate Auto Group awards Durham Tech $75,000 for automotive scholarships
Westgate Auto Group has granted the Durham Technical Community College Foundation $75,000 to establish the Westgate Auto Group Scholarship.
The award will annually benefit at least seven students in the Automotive Systems Technology program.
Machinists
Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers.
Web Developers
Develop and implement websites, web applications, application databases, and interactive web interfaces.
Communication Studies
Students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate of arts degree in Communication Studies at a four-year college or university would complete the Associate in Arts (AA) degree.
News: 60 for 60: Durham Tech was a pioneer in offering Microelectronics program
In the 1980s, electronics, microelectronics, robotics, and technology began to boom in Durham and the Research Triangle Park. 

Leadership at Durham Technical Institute wanted the College to provide the necessary training for those career fields.  

On May 18, 1983, the state board of community colleges approved funding for the development of a microelectronics technology program. This funding allowed Durham Tech to become one of the first two-year colleges in North Carolina to provide microelectronics training.   
News: Durham Tech alumna, former teacher found fresh start in automotive program
Lisa Kowite felt drained by her teaching career.
She was searching for a new career path when she discovered the Durham Tech Automotive Systems Technology program. After just one course, Kowite said she knew it was her solution.
She graduated in 2015 with an Associate Degree in Automotive System Technology and now works in the corporate marketing department at Advance Auto Parts in downtown Raleigh.
News: 41st annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration: ‘A Change Is Gonna Come’
In 1985, Durham Tech’s third president, Dr. Phail Wynn Jr., established the College’s formal observance of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. This was just two years after the holiday received federal recognition — and well before all 50 states approved it as a paid holiday for state employees.

News: Durham Tech Little Free Libraries thrive with Book Harvest partnership
With about 150 books being donated from Book Harvest every month, the Little Free Libraries at Durham Technical Community College are flourishing.
Little Free Libraries, a decade-long global movement, are stations where people can grab books for free and bring their unwanted books for others to enjoy. The Durham Tech Little Free Libraries were installed last year on Main Campus, Orange County Campus, and Northern Durham Center.

The Manufacturing program provides students with essential skills and knowledge for a successful career in the dynamic manufacturing sector.
