News: Quinn McCrimmon enjoys benefits of dual enrollment
Quinn McCrimmon, a senior at Cedar Ridge High School in Hillsborough and student at Durham Tech, has taken full advantage of the dual enrollment program.
News: Durham Tech’s Campus Police and Public Safety Department has welcomed Zoe, a therapy dog, to its staff
Zoe is a seven-month-old golden retriever whose job is to support the campus community socially and emotionally.
News: Support from College helped student on journey to UNC
Charlie Armitage has fond memories of her time at Durham Tech and believes the College helped put her where she is in her life.
Armitage graduated from Durham Tech in 2022 as part of the Carolina Student Transfer Excellence Program (C-Step). She went on to graduate in two years from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in 2024 with a major in psychology and a minor in anthropology.
News: Viva the Arts celebrates 25 years of impact
Durham Tech is deeply committed to providing accessible, free arts experiences for all students, many of whom are from underserved minority communities. The College prioritizes connecting students with arts and cultural opportunities they otherwise might not be able to access. To institutionalize these commitments, Durham Tech formed a Viva the Arts Committee in 2000, co-led by Library and Foundation personnel. Irene Laube and Lou Rollins (both now retired from Durham Tech) were among the founders of Viva the Arts.

News: Durham Tech Grad invited to to attend Warrior-Scholar Project Academic Bootcamp
Brandon Armani, a veteran and Durham Tech student since 2024, has been invited to attend the Chicago area Warrior-Scholar Project (WSP) Academic Bootcamp where he will have the opportunity to develop the skills, confidence and strategies needed to thrive in higher education. The bootcamp will be held at the University of Chicago and lasts seven days. 
News: Steve Schewel receives honorary degree from Durham Tech
Receiving an honorary degree from Durham Tech at its 2025 graduation ceremony meant a great deal to Steve Schewel.

“It is an incredible honor. To be at graduation with the graduates walking the stage with their degrees was invigorating, seeing them heading out into the world with diplomas and high expectations,” Schewel said.

Beatrice A. Muhammad retired from Durham Tech in 2013 as Director of the Adult High School and GED programs serving Durham and Orange Counties.
