NC LIVE recently announced the addition of 495 titles to its HomeGrown e-books collection. The new titles come from five publishers, including The University of North Carolina Press. The HomeGrown collection has grown to include 3,600 e-books, which are hosted on the BiblioBoard platform. They are organized into "curations": fiction, nonfiction and young adult/juvenile titles. You can also use the site's search tool to find books by keyword. Each curation is sub-divided into categories. For
Dr. Phail Wynn Jr, was president of Durham Technical Community College from 1980-2007. When Dr. Wynn made a generous donation to the library in 2007, the library created a special collection in his name. Dr. Wynn requested the collection pertain to socially responsible topics such as ecology and the environment, cultural awareness, global citizenship, teaching tolerance, appreciating diversity, fighting poverty, and promoting world peace. March 8 is International Women's Day and was created to focus on the achievements of women across the globe and emphasize the continued need to push for gender parity. This year's theme is "Choose to Challenge," acknowledging that gender bias left unchallenged allows it to continue.
