The Library is saddened by the passing of Dr. Phail Wynn, Jr. He was a champion of students and a supporter of the library both during his tenure as President of the College and after. For more than ten years (established in 2007), Dr. Wynn donated funds to establish a special collection based around eight topics he selected consisting of materials that, as per Dr. Wynn's request, "pertain (…) to socially responsible topics…" The topics he selected were the following: Cultural Awareness Global

The North Carolina GlaxoSmithKline Foundation has awarded $50,000 to the Durham Technical Community College Foundation to create the Dr. Phail Wynn, Jr. Library Endowment. Dr. Phail Wynn, Jr. served as president of Durham Tech for 27 years. Upon his retirement in 2007, he established The Dr. Phail Wynn, Jr. Collection at the Durham Tech Library. Dr. Wynn generously supported the collection through personal philanthropy until his passing in July 2018. The library is very proud of Dr. Wynn’s

The Durham Tech Library accomplished a lot this year! We held 72 class instruction sessions in the library to teach 1221 students about information literacy, citations, and how to use our resources. Between the big windows and the stands on the lower level we put up 31 themed displays. Nine hundred and forty-seven new books and DVDs were added to our collection, and that doesn't even include donations from a variety of generous individuals. I’m doing the POPSUGAR reading challenge this year so I read this book to fulfill the steampunk novel requirement. What did you like about it? I enjoyed the main character who, unmarried, is considered to be a spinster but never lets that stop her from doing what she wants. She is a heroine who is very direct in thought, speech, and action, which is refreshing
