Verily and such...and Luke and Leia.
In the library, we like books and movies. Some of us also like cheesy internet promotions that combine Shakespeare and Star Wars. For a minute or two of fun, check out the Star Wars Sonnet Generator. Have at-eth it! (Now that you know-eth of these tomes, do you need-eth a copy? Ask or email the library about interlibrary loan, and we can get you a copy to check out. Forsooth!)
Virtual Student Art Show
Welcome to the Durham Tech Virtual Student Art Show! Presented by Viva the Arts, it showcases over 100 pieces from students in our Fine Arts classes. Navigate through the show below or open it in a new window at this link. We're thankful to be able to continue to showcase our talented students despite the pandemic. If you're interested in purchasing a piece of art contact Tim Postell (postellt@durhamtech.edu). Questions, comments, or concerns can be sent to Courtney Bippley (bippleyc@durhamtech
Please Tell Us How We're Doing
The staff of the Durham Tech libraries strive to keep the library relevant in the lives of students, faculty and staff. Think about all the resources and services the library provides--study space, reserves, books, DVDs, e-books, article databases, computers, expertise, etc.--and let us know what we are doing well and what we can do better! Are there services the library does not yet provide that we should? Are there some things we should stop doing? We want to hear from you. We have set up a
Celebrate and Remember Dr. Maya Angelou
Dr. Maya Angelou, one of the most celebrated and admired poets, novelists, and civil-rights activists in the United States, died last month at her home in Winston Salem. The library has many of Maya Angelou's works including her novels, poetry collections, autobiographies, essays, and cookbook. Check the online catalog for titles. Here are some tributes to her life and work: New York Times CNN NPR http://mayaangelou.com/bio/
Books on the screen!
So many great books are hitting the screen this fall, either as TV shows or movies. Many are already out or available on streaming platforms. Here are a few book adaptations that we're looking forward to watching or are currently enjoying. If you would like to read one of these but it's not available at our libraries, you may request it through Interlibrary loan. Happy reading and watching!
New Nonfiction at the OCC
Get your read on with these new nonfiction titles at the Orange County Campus Library, most of which fit neatly into Read Great Things Challenge 2019 categories. Remember that your Durham Tech Library card is valid at all Durham Tech Library locations and you can request to pick up a book from another campus at your home campus (though you're always welcome to come visit).
New and Free Books!
It's July! That means it is time for pie, unbearable heat, and a fresh crop of books to read! Bonus: we're giving away FREE BOOKS in the library right now. They are on a cart next to the entrance. We're adding new ones all the time so even if you stopped by before, come check again.
This Is Just a Reminder: A Durham Tech Library Poem
Much thanks to William Carlos Williams' poem " This Is Just To Say" for the inspiration. "This Is Just A Reminder" I have found the plum that you left by the computers. And which, you may not remember, should not be in the library. Please: No food or beverages. Even when so sweet and so delicious.
