In recognition of her work, Lucas has been named the Child Care Services Association 2024 recipient of the prestigious Mary Y. Bridgers Early Childhood Teacher Award.

Middle College High School opened its doors on Durham Tech's Main Campus in Fall 2005. The new high school was a collaborative effort among Durham Public Schools, Chapel Hill/Carrboro City Schools and Orange County Schools.
