Carolina Student Transfer Excellence Program (C-STEP or CSTEP) is a partnership between Durham Technical Community College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Associate in Engineering (AE) is intended for students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate engineering degree within four years. AE curriculum courses focus on engineering but the degree also includes general education offerings that emphasize the development of analytical skills, written and oral communication, and competencies in math and science.

The Durham Tech Cosmetology/Manicuring/Natural Hair Care Salon is open to the public to provide hair, nail, and makeup services at reduced prices. The clinic is staffed by Durham Tech students, and students complete 100 percent of the work.
