Durham Tech is among 10 community colleges selected to spearhead the statewide expansion of high-impact electrical workforce training.
News: Nathaniel B. White Sr., printing industry giant and first Black Board of Trustees member, envisioned a college for all
Nathaniel B. White Sr. blazed a trail at Durham Tech.
He was the College’s first African-American Board of Trustee member and a founding member of Durham Industrial Education Center. He was appointed by the Durham County Board of Commissioners and served 32 years as a trustee.
Media Requests
The Public Information Officer and Marketing and Media Relations Coordinator manage media relations, including press releases, feature articles and media advisories, media, interviews, and press conferences. We also respond to media requests for information, story ideas and faculty experts.
Photography (Continuing Education)
Durham Tech offers a host of Continuing Education courses for those who want to learn basic techniques of digital photography, how to document that breathtaking nature view, and how to tell a story through photography.
Industrial Technology
Students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate of arts degree at a four-year college or university would complete the Associate in Arts (AA) degree. Students in this program develop foundational knowledge particularly in business, English, fine arts, foreign languages, history, philosophy, psychology, or sociology.
News: 60 for 60: At ‘Hill Day,’ Occupational Therapy Assistant students advocate for OTA issues in Washington, D.C.
Every September, the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) hosts Hill Day as an opportunity for thousands of Occupational Therapy students from across the country to travel to Washington, D.C., and voice their advocacy for occupational therapy.

Hill Day began in 1999, and about 10 years ago, Durham Tech’s Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) students began to participate.

All second-year students are welcome to attend Hill Day as a chance to complete their advocacy assignment required for OTA 245 Professional Skills III.
News: ‘Durham Tech has prepared me'
Sharia Warren, who has worked at Duke Health for 12 years and is currently a clinical specialist senior there, will finish Durham Tech in May with an applied science degree in clinical research, thanks in part to the encouragement her two daughters have provided.

“They are my cheerleaders,” the single mother says of her 17- and 10-year-old girls. “When school gets too tough and thoughts of giving up creep into my mind, my oldest will remind me of how far I’ve come.”
