This course provides training for the skills required to work as a medical administrative assistant. Course topics include electronic medical records, health insurance, basic medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, effective telephone etiquette, appointment scheduling, internal and external customer service, financial records of patients, and preparation of medical reports.
The Associate in Engineering (AE) is intended for students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate engineering degree within four years. AE curriculum courses focus on engineering but the degree also includes general education offerings that emphasize the development of analytical skills, written and oral communication, and competencies in math and science.

Charlie Armitage has fond memories of her time at Durham Tech and believes the College helped put her where she is in her life.

The Orange Board of County Commissioners approved its 2025-26 budget Tuesday, June 17, which reflects the commissioners’ strong support for public higher education. Nearly all of the 2,700 seats in the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) were filled Tuesday evening when friends, family, and Durham Tech faculty and staff gathered to celebrate the graduating class of 2019. More than 400 graduates participated in the ceremony, a record number for commencement ceremonies in the last decade, said Lisa Inman, Dean of Student Development and Support who has helped coordinate Commencement since 2011.
