The Mindful Haven (Mindfulness) Club aims to promote mental well-being, stress relief, and emotional awareness through the regular practice of meditation, mindfulness, and related activities. John Burness, Chair of the Durham Technical Community College Board of Trustees, died on Monday, December 19, at the age of 77.

His leadership at both Duke University and Durham Tech reflected his commitment to leveraging the power of institutions to improve people’s lives and create a more beloved community.

Durham Tech’s ties with Sister Cities of Durham began under the leadership of former president Phail Wynn, Jr., who also served as the Board President of Sister Cities – an organization whose mission is to promote world peace by mutual cooperation and respect between international people.

Durham Technical Community College will close later this month on property adjacent to Main Campus as a part of the College’s expansion. The Durham Tech Board of Trustees approved the purchase of 1551 Cooper Street at a June 16 meeting. The deal is expected to close July 15.
