Project Skill Up Scholarship
Project Skilling Up provides help in exploring contemporary career paths and resources regarding employment possibilities in the area. For students who reside in Durham or Orange counties, Project Skilling Up can provide funding for tuition or books for curriculum and Continuing Education training.
News: Around the world in 18 days, Japanese students turn to Durham Tech for English immersion experience
For the seventh consecutive year, Durham Technical Community College has partnered with Sister Cities of Durham to host students from the Sister City of Toyama, Japan – nearly 200 miles northwest of Tokyo – for an English immersion program, which is housed at the Durham Tech Small Business and Corporate Education Center.
Excellence in Teaching Award
Presented to an employee who demonstrates exemplary teaching. Co-workers nominate instructors. Nominees will be invited to submit a teaching portfolio.
News: Viva the Arts celebrates 25 years of impact
Durham Tech is deeply committed to providing accessible, free arts experiences for all students, many of whom are from underserved minority communities. The College prioritizes connecting students with arts and cultural opportunities they otherwise might not be able to access. To institutionalize these commitments, Durham Tech formed a Viva the Arts Committee in 2000, co-led by Library and Foundation personnel. Irene Laube and Lou Rollins (both now retired from Durham Tech) were among the founders of Viva the Arts.

Durham Tech’s Restorative Dental Technology program is a hands-on, career-focused program that prepares students to work behind the scenes in dentistry by creating dental prosthetics. Durham Technical Community College hosted their 38th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Friday to honor the life and legacy of Dr. King. 

Durham’s first African American female mayor, Elaine O’Neal, and 4th District Congresswoman, Valerie Foushee joined Durham Tech’s faculty and staff for the event on Durham Tech’s Main Campus.  

The event included selections from Durham Tech’s MLK Choir, presentations from the 2023 I Have a Dream Essay Award winners, and reflections on Dr. King’s life and impact.
