News: Statement from Durham Technical Community College President J.B. Buxton on the passing of former Trustee James I. Bolden
Recently, our community lost an important figure in Durham Tech’s history – and key contributor to improving opportunity and life outcomes for people across the region. On Feb. 20, 2025, former Durham Tech Board of Trustees member James I. Bolden passed away at the age of 100.

News: Mayor O'Neal and Congresswoman Foushee join Durham Tech for annual MLK celebration
Durham Technical Community College hosted their 38th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Friday to honor the life and legacy of Dr. King. 

Durham’s first African American female mayor, Elaine O’Neal, and 4th District Congresswoman, Valerie Foushee joined Durham Tech’s faculty and staff for the event on Durham Tech’s Main Campus.  

The event included selections from Durham Tech’s MLK Choir, presentations from the 2023 I Have a Dream Essay Award winners, and reflections on Dr. King’s life and impact. 
News: Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation donates to Campus Harvest Food Pantry
Durham Technical Community College has received a $2,000 grant from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help stock the Campus Harvest Food Pantry.

The Durham Tech Campus Harvest Food Pantry offers food to students at no charge.

Alexandra Gooding, Campus Harvest Food Pantry Coordinator, said the pandemic has leveled the playing field and caused everyone to experience challenges.
Adult Basic Education
Adult Basic Education (ABE) courses are designed to prepare students to move into the Gateway to College, Adult High School Diploma, or High School Equivalency programs.
News: 10 Durham Tech students selected as Goodnight Scholars, most among community colleges statewide 
Ten Durham Tech students have won the Goodnight Scholarship at North Carolina State University, more than any other community college in the state. The Goodnight Scholarship for students studying in a STEM or STEM education field is worth $23,000 per year for up to three years.
