Durham Technical Community College is the first Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) education program in the nation to receive its voluntary accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), the only nationally recognized accreditation organization for AEMT and paramedic education. The High School Equivalency diploma is the certified equivalent of a traditional high school diploma. Students may take courses to prepare for the tests in a traditional classroom setting or online. In some settings, The equivalency test is free for Durham and Orange county residents.
President Bill Ingram officially announced his plans to retire at the end of his contract next summer during a Durham Technical Community College Board of Trustees meeting Tuesday night. Ingram has served at the College in various capacities since 1983. Ingram has led Durham Tech as its fourth president since January 2008, succeeding the late Dr. Phail Wynn Jr. Ingram is set to retire from Durham Tech on June 30, 2020, pending the conclusion of the presidential search process.
