Academic Advising
At Durham Tech, academic advisors partner with students to develop personalized plans to achieve their goals, understand program requirements, plan and register for classes, monitor graduation progress, and utilize resources to support students’ success.
Contact Your Advisor
Academic advising is required for all students every semester before registering for courses.
- Students registering for Summer or Fall classes should contact their advisor beginning in March
- Students registering for Spring classes should to contact their advisor beginning in October
- New and Visiting Students
New, readmitted, and visiting students must meet with an advisor after following the Enrollment Steps.
Note: Students who are non-US citizens, have high school and/or college transcripts from outside the US, and/or whose first language is not US English may be referred to the Center for the Global Learner for additional support.
- Current Students
Students enrolled in a degree, diploma, or certificate program are assigned a Program Advisor after their first semester of enrollment.
Students can locate their advisor’s information in Self-Service under Student Planning → Go to Plan & Schedule → Advising.
Current students may meet with staff in the Advising Services department if one of the following applies:
- There is no assigned Program Advisor in Self-Service
- The assigned Program Advisor does not advise for the student’s current program; or
- The student has not received a response to their email sent to their Program Advisor after at least 3 business days
- Students in High School or Dual Enrollment Students
High school students that are participating or interested in Dual Enrollment (Career and College Promise) should follow the CCP Enrollment and Registration Steps and contact their appropriate College Liaison or email ccp@durhamtech.edu for support.
