The Campus Harvest Food Pantry offers free bags of non-perishable/shelf-stable groceries, fresh produce, snacks, menstrual products, hygiene products, and diapers/wipes to currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff. The Food Pantry has also published a cookbook with easy-to-prepare, healthy recipes that use ingredients most commonly donated to the pantry for students facing food insecurities.

Loaner AND Keeper Chromebooks (and Calculators and Portable Monitors): Digital Champion Grant Update
In December 2025, the Durham Tech Library began distributing "keeper" Chromebooks to qualifying students as the final part of our NC DIT Digital Champion Grant. Our first sixteen students who have picked up their keeper Chromebook (and the others who have qualified) expressed interest in the program on their intake or renewal form, demonstrated need by borrowing a loaner laptop for two terms or more, and met progression goals according to their program. Durham Tech student Juan-Pablo Quintanilla Ha began his interest in the Fidelity Scholars program during high school, when a guidance counselor shared information on the program.
“After learning about the Fidelity program from a high school counselor of mine, I researched the program and found I was a fit because of my Latino-Asian descent, but also because of my academic excellence and it helped that I am a go-getter,” said Ha, who was one of the Durham Tech students selected for the program. “I was then all about the program and how it could help me get a college education.”
Ha saw Fidelity’s program as a way to receive money for college, but quickly learned it was much more.

EMS Continuing Education courses are available for those who need to train, retrain, and update themselves in the field of EMS. The courses are of the highest quality, both in classroom and in field instruction.
Full-time employees and continuing part-time employees working 30 or more hours per week are enrolled in the Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System. Six percent is deducted monthly from all wages earned to contribute to this retirement benefit, and the state contributes a percentage of all wages paid as the employer’s contribution to the employee’s retirement account.
From one generation to the next, the Westbrook family has found an educational home at Durham Tech.
“In church one day a fellow parishioner and Durham Tech employee, Lauren Norton, and I were talking. I mentioned that three generations of my family had attended Durham Tech and inquired as to whether this was an oddity,” Sue Westbrook Rice said.
