Campus Harvest Food Pantry
The Campus Harvest Food Pantry offers free daily snacks and weekly bags of groceries, produce, diapers, hygiene, and household products to currently enrolled students and employees.
Location and Hours
Phillips (Building 3), room 3-110
- Snacks: Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Grocery shopping: Wednesdays and Thursdays, Noon – 6 p.m.

More than 1,000 students benefit from the Campus Harvest Food Pantry at Durham Tech every year, which provides nearly 60,000 pounds of food to students in need.
The Campus Harvest Food Pantry published a cookbook with easy-to-prepare, healthy recipes that use ingredients most commonly donated to the pantry for students facing food insecurities.
How to donate to the Food Pantry
- Make a financial donation through the Durham Tech Foundation. Choose ‘Food Pantry’ in the Designation dropdown menu.
- Email pantry@durhamtech.edu to arrange a donation drop-off.
Donations
We appreciate donations of non-perishable food items, fresh produce, bread, and hygiene items. They can be dropped off at the pantry in the Phillips Building (Building 3), room 3-110C. Please be sure items are in good condition and have not expired.
Most Needed Items:
- Heat-N-Eat Meals: Noodle cups, mac & cheese cups, Dinty Moore microwavable bowls
- Snack Items: Granola bars, pop-tarts, nuts, fruit snacks, any individually packaged snack items
- Soup: Hearty soups, Progresso or chili
- Canned Beans: Pinto, garbanzo, great northern, kidney
- Canned Fruit: peaches, pineapples, fruit cocktail
- Bottles of Water
- Juice Boxes or Gatorade
- Hygiene Items: Toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, lotion, deodorant
- Menstrual Products: Pads, tampons
Community Food Resources
Durham Tech will host the Black Farmers’ Market every other Sunday rain or shine in the Main Campus parking lot. The market is open to the public and features locally grown produce. There also will be cooking demonstrations, family entertainment, music and food trucks. Join us on our journey to create a strong Black led food system right in the heart of NC. 2023 dates: April 16; May 7, 21; June 4, 18; July 2, 16; August 6, 20; September 3, 17; October 1, 15; November 5, 19.
Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) Benefits (also known as SNAP or Food Stamps)
Not sure if you are eligible? Complete an assistance form and a Benefits Outreach Coordinator with the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC will call you to check eligibility and complete your application over the phone in just 10-15 minutes!
Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
WIC is a food assistance program for pregnant or breastfeeding mothers and children up to age five)

Orange County Food Resources

- The Town of Chapel Hill is maintaining an up-to-date list of food distribution resources.
- Inter-Faith Council’s Food Pantry provides food bags to residents of Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and those who work in Orange County. Call 919-929-6380 to place a food bag order and arrange a pick-up time. Food bags will be brought to your car upon arrival.
- The Inter-Faith Council continues to serve hot meals daily in a grab-and-go format (lunch daily, dinner Monday-Friday).
- Orange Congregations in Mission provides food bags to residents of the Orange County school district (including residents without children). Open 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for drop-in service. Call 919-732-6194, ext. 12.
- TABLE is delivering bags of non-perishables and fresh food to families with children in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School System. If you have students in the CHCCS district and you are not already a TABLE recipient, sign up for their waiting list by calling 919-636-4860.
- Orange County Seniors Supplemental Food box program distributes a box of non-perishable groceries once a month to qualified Orange County residents who are over 60. To enroll email shmcpherson@orangecountync.gov or call 919-245-4243.
- Food Not Bombs: Request food or supplies, and they will respond within 48 hours.
