High School Equivalency Diploma
The High School Equivalency diploma is the certified equivalent of a traditional high school diploma. Students may take courses to prepare for the tests in a traditional classroom setting or online. In some settings, The equivalency test is free for Durham and Orange county residents.
News: Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation donates to Campus Harvest Food Pantry
Durham Technical Community College has received a $2,000 grant from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help stock the Campus Harvest Food Pantry.

The Durham Tech Campus Harvest Food Pantry offers food to students at no charge.

Alexandra Gooding, Campus Harvest Food Pantry Coordinator, said the pandemic has leveled the playing field and caused everyone to experience challenges.

News: Durham Tech high-altitude balloon team competes in state competition
Durham Tech sent its six-person high-altitude balloon team to compete in the statewide competition in March in Catawba. The 10 teams competing launched their high-altitude balloons (HABs) filled with a payload of one required experiment and three additional experiments. The balloons reach an altitude of 20 miles above Earth and must be strong enough to carry the payload and all the components of the experiments.
Phi Theta Kappa
This international honor society recognizes academic achievement among two-year college students, providing opportunities for individual growth and development through participation in honors, leadership, service, and fellowship programming.

News: Unsolved death leads Durham Tech alumna down path to criminal justice
Toni Rigsbee’s uncle was just 20 years old when he was murdered.
His killer was never found.
“Our family never got resolution, and the case went cold,” said Rigsbee, 42. “I always knew I wanted to become an investigator so I could help families of victims get closure and justice.”
Rigsbee’s pathway to criminal justice made a sharp right turn during high school when she found out she was pregnant and ultimately decided to drop out.
