News: With ‘perseverance and hard work,’ Durham Tech graduates celebrate 2019 Commencement
Nearly all of the 2,700 seats in the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) were filled Tuesday evening when friends, family, and Durham Tech faculty and staff gathered to celebrate the graduating class of 2019. More than 400 graduates participated in the ceremony, a record number for commencement ceremonies in the last decade, said Lisa Inman, Dean of Student Development and Support who has helped coordinate Commencement since 2011.

News: Durham Tech Foundation appoints Roxanne Miller as new Vice President and Chief Institutional Advancement Officer
Durham Technical Community College announced Tuesday the hiring of Roxanne Miller as the incoming Vice President and Chief Institutional Advancement Officer who will lead the Durham Tech Foundation. Miller currently serves as the Senior Director of Development at the Wake Tech Foundation.

As Vice President and Chief Institutional Advancement Officer, Miller will be responsible for guiding Durham Tech’s institutional advancement efforts to achieve the College’s strategic priorities and institutional goals. The Durham Tech Foundation provides opportunities for investments from the community to assist the College in meeting its most critical institutional and instructional needs. The Foundation engages with corporate, foundation, and individual donors to directly impact student success, employee development, program and facility enhancements, and other advancement needs.
News: 60 for 60: Opening the Northern Durham Center, first expansion of Durham Tech
In the late 1980s, Durham Tech was growing on all fronts and bursting at the seams for classroom space. 

Leadership at the College knew it was time to expand, and in 1989, 27 acres of land were purchased on Snow Hill Road to construct the Northern Durham Center (NDC). 

In a message to the campus community in 1989, then-President Phail Wynn Jr. announced the project. 

“The northern campus will be built in five phases over a period of ten to fifteen years. The first of these phases includes a 30,000-square-foot, multipurpose building,” Wynn said.  
News: Statement from President J.B. Buxton on the passing of Durham Tech Board Chair John Burness
John Burness, Chair of the Durham Technical Community College Board of Trustees, died on Monday, December 19, at the age of 77.

President J.B. Buxton issued the following statement: 

“John Burness was a big personality with big ambitions for Durham Tech. He believed deeply in the College’s ability to make a difference for the residents of Durham and Orange counties. His leadership at both Duke University and Durham Tech reflected his commitment to leveraging the power of institutions to improve people’s lives and create a more beloved community.
Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Mechanics and Installers
Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Mechanics and Installers test electrical circuits or components for continuity, using electrical test equipment.
Plumbing (Continuing Education)
Plumbing Level I (fall) and Plumbing Level II (spring) prepare students for basic installation and maintenance of plumbing systems and components and explores plumbing code, permitting, and math.
